How does the program work? Your Metro-Buffalo State Student Transit Pass is valid for unlimited use of regular Metro Bus and Rail services free of charge. Undergraduate students must possess their Metro-Buffalo State Student Transit Pass and their photo student ID when using Metro Bus or Rail. Simply board any Metro Bus and swipe your Metro-Buffalo State Student Transit Pass in the fare box and flash your photo student ID to the Metro Operator. You will not need to swipe your pass when riding Metro Rail. However, your pass and photo student ID may be subject to visual inspection at any time by Metro Staff of NFTA Police.
Please make sure to carry both cards with you when using Metro Bus and Rail.
May someone else use my pass for transit? No, your pass belongs to you and is only valid for you to use. The pass is non-transferable.
What happens if I lose my transit pass? If you lose your transit pass go to the E.H. Butler Library/Information Commons. You will be required to fill out a lost transit pass form and pay a fee of $10 to get a replacement pass. Your old pass will be inactivated in the Buffalo State and Metro systems. Complete the Lost Transit Pass form and include a check for the $10, payable to Buffalo State College.
What happens if I am riding Metro Rail and I don’t have my transit pass? If you are riding the Metro Rail system, your pass is subject to visual inspection as proof of fare payment. If you do not have your pass, you could be charged with fare evasion, which carries a stiff financial penalty. Be smart and carry the pass with you at all times.
How do I use Metro Bus and Rail? Metro Bus and Rail serves the greater Buffalo and Niagara regions. For information on the system, check out NFTA.com, featuring a Trip Planner. Enter where you want to go, and the Trip Planner will tell you how to use Metro to get there. Metro’s Web site also has up-to-date schedules and maps.
