Passport Officials to Provide Information at the
Buffalo Niagara International Airport
Monday February 2, 2009
Buffalo, NY ... The Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority announced today that representatives from the National Passport Center will be at the Buffalo Niagara International Airport to provide public outreach regarding changes in required travel documents taking effect June 1, 2009, as part of the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative.
Representatives from the NPC will be at the BNIA Wednesday, Feb. 4 through Friday, Feb. 6 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. They will be set up in the baggage claim area (ground level) near the bottom of the escalator. They will be available to explain the new regulations taking effect June 1, when the full requirements of the land and sea phase of WHTI are enforced. The new rules require most U.S. citizens entering the United States at sea or land ports of entry to have a passport, passport card, or WHTI compliant document.
They will also be able to answer general questions regarding the application process, as well as encouraging travelers to apply for a passport or passport card, now, rather than later.
Additional information can be found at www.travel.state.gov, which has a listing of WHTI approved documents as well as additional useful travel information.
