Metro Increases Park & Ride Locations

Buffalo, NY. . . The Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority announced that in an effort to attract new riders to its Metro system they have added 10 new Park & Ride locations to their existing sites.

"Park & Rides provide the convenience of parking your vehicle near home, for free, and taking Metro Bus or Rail to your destination," said Eunice A. Lewin, Chairwoman of the NFTA's Surface Transportation committee. "Using a local Park & Ride reduces car mileage, helps reduce carbon emissions and totally eliminates parking fees."

The 10 new locations increase the total number of Metro Park & Ride locations to 22. Each location is identified with Metro signs indicating which spaces are for transit customers. "We are actively working to secure additional locations in as many communities as possible so we can make using Metro as easy and convenient as possible," Lewin added.

The new locations are located at:

- Highland Elementary School, 6745 Erie Rd., Derby (in lot east of the school) Served by Route 76
- Village of Angola, 2 South Main St., Angola. (behind the Red Caboose) Served by Route 76
- Village of N. Collins, Village Hall, 10550 Gowanda State Rd. (adjacent to the Village Hall) Served by Route 216
- Erie County Community College, South Campus, 4041 Southwestern Blvd. Orchard Park (Abbott Rd. entrance across from Ralph Wilson Stadium) Served by Routes 14, 42 and 72
- McKinley Mall, 3701 McKinley Parkway, Blasdell (parking near Firestone store) Served by Routes 14, 36, 42 and 216
- City of Tonawanda, Municipal Parking, 79 Niagara St., Tonawanda (corner of Seymour & Niagara St.) Served by Routes 20, 25, 56, 61 and 79
- 7136 Boston State Rd., Boston (near Mobil Station) Served by
Route 74
- Zion United Church of Christ, 15 Koenig Circle, Tonawanda (corner of Parker & Koenig Circle) Served by Route 62
