Vicky-Marie J. Brunette, Esq.
General Counsel | OfficerIn July of 2025, Vicky-Marie J. Brunette was appointed as the NFTA's General Counsel, making her the first woman to hold this position in the Authority's history. With an impressive career spanning over three decades in public transit, Vicky has served in several key positions at the NFTA, including 14 years in the role of Deputy General Counsel.
As General Counsel, Vicky is the Authority’s chief legal officer and manages the legal staff, providing strategic legal counsel and representation to the Board of Commissioners, Executive Director, and Authority business centers on a wide range of business, corporate governance, litigation, labor, real property, construction, procurement, and compliance matters. As a member of NFTA’s Senior Leadership and Management Teams, Vicky also contributes to the Authority’s Pride Planning Committee.
Vicky earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English from St. John Fisher College and a Juris Doctor from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law. She is admitted to practice law in both state and federal courts in the State of New York.
A dedicated member of the legal community, Vicky is active with the Erie County Bar Association, where she serves on the Judiciary Committee; Women’s Bar Association of the State of New York; Defense Trial Lawyers Association of WNY, where she served as past President; Defense Research Institute; and New York Trial Lawyers Association. She is a past recipient of the Robert M. Kiebala Defense Trial Lawyer of the Year Award, Business First Women of Influence Award for her “behind the scenes” work, and an Exceptional Performance Citation from the Defense Research Institute. She is also a graduate of Leadership Buffalo.
Vicky’s contributions extend beyond her professional achievements. She is deeply committed to community service and is the Board President for the Ovarian Cancer Project, where she serves on the Executive and Finance Committees, and is a member of the Board of Trustees for St. Mary’s School for the Deaf, where she serves on the By-Laws and Nominations/Membership Committees. Vicky also regularly mentors younger professionals and volunteers for the Western New York Women’s Foundation.
